Category: Let's talk
a US fire fighter who had been severely brain damaged 10 years ago suddenly started talking this weekend. Apparently the man had been injured in a house fire, and he had been left blind, unable to move and unable to speak clearly, he was not in a permanent vegetative state as did respond in some ways. however, at the weekend he suddenly started calling for his wife and children and actually spoke lucidly to them for 14 hours, and the recovery has remained apparently.
Imagine what it must be like though! to suddenly make that kind of recovery and realize you'd been out of it for 10 years! He hadn't been in a coma, (he was in a coma for two months after the accident), but he did think he'd just been away for three months.. scary?
Geez that would be a crazy thing to experience. Things have changed so much in the past ten years. Having to cope with all the adjustments and stuff would be difficult, but what a great thing to be able to recover from that. It just shows you how resiliant our bodies and minds can be.
apparently there was also a similar case of a guy who woke from a coma after 18 years. now that, would be even scarier, things have been invented since 18 years ago ... mobile phones, the internet .. and the list goes on!
wow, i cant even imagine that. it would be hard to believe that so much couldve changed within that amount of time. gosh, its hard to even think of that happening.
oh yeah .. for sure! wow! it would be like waking up in a whole new culture! :) man! so hard to imagine!
Yiesh! It defies the mind in so many ways. Like all your friends and family who would be so many years older, you wouldn't just miss out on so much of their lives, but would be so far left behind in experience... plus all the changes in politics, pop-culture, trends, world-events, fashion, technology, science.... the mind boggles!
